challenge

Convert one of America’s largest, fastest-growing convenience store chains from freshly made donuts to a premade option that looks and tastes just as scrumptious, with the same just-baked mouthfeel.

key insight

The logistics of keeping 1,200 stores across 17 states supplied with daily fresh-made donuts had proven too costly to be sustainable. In locations with high humidity, maintaining temperature control to keep them looking fresh was problematic. Given a growth rate of 100+ stores per year, QuikTrip had to find a way to pivot to premade donuts that would look and taste fresh.

We optimized an in-house, single-stage glaze system and dough modification combination process that hit the sweet spot for taste, texture and cost-efficiency.
